2023/24 Men's Premier Cricket Final - What can we learn?
What can we learn?

Carlton Cricket Club pulled off a jaw-dropping victory in the Grand Final against Casey South Melbourne.
Evan Gulbis, arguably one of the best going round, didn't just put his own skills on show but some incredible tactical awareness that would ultimately help his team become premiership winners.
What can we take from this?
As a captain or coach, have you prepared your players to be able to chase down big scores or chase scores quickly? Carlton have been one of the best white ball format teams in the last 5 years winning numerous T20 titles, which has obviously helped them obtain the ultimate success.
Are you prepared to shuffle the batting order? As a captain or coach, are you prepared to bat players in different spots to give the team the biggest chance of success and are your players willing to do it? Reigning Jack Ryder Medalist Harry Smyth, who batted at number three in the first innings didn't bat in the top 5 in the second innings run chase as his style of play doesn't suit the current game situation, which is no disrespect to Harry but we all play the game differently, some players are more aggressive, some are not and you can't have a team that do all the same things.
They say that success leaves clues and Carlton have been successful for a long period of time and possibly building their own version of a dynasty. Take what you can from the game, put some things in place that you will be able to call on when those moments come because cricket is a funny game and you never know what may happen.
